Ghosting

Neon was nervous, being surrounded by cameras was something she had never thought of, and mainly not for the reason why she was there. She kept rubbing her hands on her cotton dress and shifting in her seat.

The journalist smiled at her sweetly to calm her down before asking the one question Neon wasn't looking ready for. "You pledged you would never go back with your ex, and that if you do, this exact magazine would be the one to hold the interview. Seeing you here means you went back together with your ex, right?" Neon nodded her head staring at her shaking hands. "We are all curious to know what happened. Your video was viral it even made it to national news television. Care to fill us in, dear?"

The cameras were all looking at Neon. The world felt like it was spinning. Neon might have appeared in a viral post, but the screen wasn't her best friend. She didn't expect a joke to turn into. After what seemed like forever to her, Neon raised her head and looked at the journalist who was holding a business smile running out of patience.

"Our relationship started out simple and sweet in high school. We went on multiple dates and hang out together a lot -- we did what most couples did. I was really in love with him. I could see forever in him but that was obviously me being naive. As soon as we finished high school and we went to the same college as we had promised each other, I started to see and hear many different things about him. To be more exact, I would hear something about him and then start seeing it as that. At some point, I just drew the conclusion that I was delusional, and that I was being such a bad girlfriend for not trusting him.

The first year and second years ended with nothing bad happening. Everything was just rumoring. Why didn't I run away? It had been fours since I last saw my parents, so I went home for Christmas. My ex had agreed to let me go. I begged a lot to go. He had claimed that his parents weren't good people which was why he wanted to spend it with me. I had my best friend chip in for me and finally, he accepted. That should have been an issue, but I didn't care.

I came back to him holding a baby and my best friend was making food for them. I, at first, took it as them babysitting together but -- I thank God I didn't announce my presence right away because they kissed in front of my eyes. That wasn't the hard part. My best friend called another child to the table. the child was a spitting image of both of them. I thought, 'What is going on? Something is wrong.' Turns out they were a family. A married man and woman. I just wanted to die. That's how the video came about. I drank too much, caused a scene, and also didn't pay attention to what I should have.

The next years were miserable until I met them again. Something felt different, the loving energy around them had left. He approached me trying to back together with me. the funny part was that the girl was also in agreement with him. I didn't know that I was this insane to even consider getting back together with him. I am insane. So, I have seen.

The last thing that I was expecting to look at in my entire life was the ground from a high level. The last thought I never thought would be mine was of bungee jumping without a safety rope. I am acrophobic too.

Neon, I hate you. I hate you more than him. You are the reason I am standing here. I wish you only misery. I don't care if I got hell for this."

Neon was a wet mess by the time she finished reading the suicide message of her once best friend. The room was filled with an intense air, the journalist was dumbfounded, she didn't know what to do. Everyone was expecting a romantic love story unfortunately all they could get was a tragic story. The icing on the cake was the presence of one of the involved parties. They hadn't done their homework well before inviting Neon. They should have looked for Cara.

"I hate you, Neon." A voice said from behind Neon. The PD nudged the cameraman to film the person. They didn't know where she came from but the drama was boiling. The journalist could only faint.

Neon stood up slowly backing away from the person, terror was written on her face. The PD focused on delivering the show not caring about anything. To him, everything was just a show.

"If you can see me that means you all see ghosts. Follow me, and I will show you something cool."

The cameraman and PD followed her to the window. The young woman jumped from the window regardless of everyone's screaming. The grin on her face had captivated the cameraman that he couldn't stop filming. To their horror, there was no one at the bottom where the young woman fell. "Does that mean we all saw a ghost just right now?" The PD fainted. The rest of the people in the room fell like domino after that. The cameraman took the wrong angle, he was the one on the ground later in police investigations. The whole nation had seen what happen as it was streaming live.

"Sorry, cameraman, it should have been Neon. I will come back for that wench."

END.
